After listening to this, I could clearly see both sides of the issue. The consolidation has clearly harmed certain aspects of radio communication. Especially in relaying crisis information. It is more than necessary to have a local station where if in the event something happens, and people need to be made aware potential harm, that the communication exists for people. I didn't agree with Ben when he said that local radio doesn't or shouldn't exist based on the event a crisis may occur. The examples given are more than enough good reasons to make local radio a viable need. And, another thing, when Seattle had its power outage, I didn't go to my Internet for news. I went to my car's radio! I wouldn't spend hours trying to find a location that has power so I can check the Internet for news. That's not feasible at all. I need it now, not in two hours or not at all. And, as the host pointed out "radio is a life line." It really is - especially when you need it most. That was a good, and informative broadcast.
